level classes on-line
Age: 4-6 y.o.
Teacher: Kate Lynch Grossinger
Kate brings over 30 years teaching experience in mainstream and special education preschool classroom settings. Kate will be working closely with the classroom teachers at Prospect Academy in order to ensure learning continuity for each child.
Kate encourages communication with parents in order to share information that will help their child grow and succeed!
Monday and Wednesday 1:30 pm- 2:15 pm
Due to the small size of the class, the teacher will work individually with each student at his or her level of readiness, and also according to a child's particular learning style. Children's participation and contributions to the class will also be an important part of the class format, as children focus and attend for a longer period of time when their own ideas, responses, and creativity are part of the class material. Classes will incorporate the Montessori philosophy of the joy of discovering reading. This is the beginning of a wonderful journey with words!

Mathlets: fun mathematics for Grade 1 (in English language)
This program follows the Singapore Math methodology with alignment with the New York State Common Core Mathematics curriculum. In particular, the Dimensions Math program is used.
The program is intended for students ages 6-7 who have successfully completed the Kindergarten Mathematics plan of study.
The series follows the principles outlined in the Singapore mathematics framework, including the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach, mental math strategies, and bar modeling.
In the Dimensions Math program, concepts are introduced and explained with vibrant imagery, while the progression and scope that define Singapore math remain intact.
